Prayers of the People—Proper 21B (SC Track)
My brothers and sisters, the prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. Believing in the power of prayer, let us pray to the Lord saying, “God our help; receive our prayer.”
Give to your Church, O God, vision to see you at work in the world. Forgive us when we try to limit you or control you. May we rejoice in all good and celebrate all loving deeds.
Silence
God our help;
receive our prayer.
O God, you declare your almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and pity: comfort all those around the globe who know the devastation of war and the threat of annihilation. We pray for peace.
Silence
God our help;
receive our prayer.
We thank you, O God, that you have provided us with those things that make our lives better—fire for heat, salt for seasoning. We thank you for all of the good gifts we so easily take for granted.
I ask your thanksgivings, followed by Silence
God our help;
receive our prayer.
We pray, O God, for all those who rely on our public transportation system. May it benefit our region by bringing people together and enabling healthy relationships that we might be at peace with one another.
Silence
God our help;
receive our prayer.
Blessed God, as you command us, we pray for those in need of healing and wholeness. Turn them from sorrow into gladness and from mourning into holiday. Lord, raise them up in Jesus’ name.
I ask your petitions, followed by Silence
God our help;
receive our prayer.
Almighty God, were you not on our side, we would be without hope. But you are our salvation. Grant us entrance into your heavenly kingdom; may we become partakers of your heavenly treasure.
Silence
God our help;
receive our prayer.
