Prayers of the People: Lent 3C

Prayers of the People—Lent 3C

Brothers and sisters, our God is faithful.  Let us offer our prayers to God, saying, “God, your loving-kindness is better than life itself; we bless you and we praise you.”

O God, you are our God; eagerly we seek you; our souls thirst for you, our flesh faints for you, as in a barren and dry land where there is no water. Refresh your Church with living water.

I ask your thanksgivings, followed by Silence

God, your loving-kindness is better than life itself;
we bless you and we praise you.

Faithful God, be the comfort and strength of innocent victims and their families.  We pray for all those who die suddenly and unprepared.

Silence

God, your loving-kindness is better than life itself;
we bless you and we praise you.

Great Mountain God, open our eyes to your presence in the world around us. Set the fire of your presence before us and lead our feet to holy ground.

Silence

God, your loving-kindness is better than life itself;
we bless you and we praise you.

We pray, O God, for victims of sexual violence and abuse. Deliver them; heal their wounds and scars; restore innocence and the ability to trust. Purify our own hearts that we may honor and respect each other.

Silence

God, your loving-kindness is better than life itself;
we bless you and we praise you.

O God, you are our helper; you hide us under the mighty shadow of your wings. Defend your children from all adversities which may happen to the body or soul.

I ask your petitions, followed by Silence

God, your loving-kindness is better than life itself;
we bless you and we praise you.

God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, God of our fathers and mothers, feed us with spiritual food; refresh us with spiritual drink. Preserve us, with all your saints, forever.
Silence

God, your loving-kindness is better than life itself;
we bless you and we praise you.

Prayers of the People - Last Epiphany C

Prayers of the People—Last Epiphany C

Proclaim the greatness of the Lord our God, for the Lord our God is the Holy One.  Placing our hope in God, offering ourselves to God, let us pray, “Shine in our hearts, Lord Jesus, and transform our lives.”

Almighty God, as we turn our gaze toward our Lenten journey, strengthen us to bear our cross and to follow faithfully in the way of your Son, Jesus.

Silence

Shine in our hearts, Lord Jesus,
and transform our lives.

O mighty King, lover of justice, establish equity, that the dignity of every human being may be preserved and respected.  But also show us mercy and forgive us for our failures.

Silence

Shine in our hearts, Lord Jesus,
and transform our lives.

Your glory outshines the brightness of the sun; the earth shakes in your presence. And yet, it pleases you, O God, to reveal yourself to us through your creation. Give us hearts to love what you call good.

I ask your thanksgivings, followed by Silence

Shine in our hearts, Lord Jesus,
and transform our lives.

We pray for all those in need of your liberating salvation, O God.  May the glory we encounter here shine on our faces and in our lives.  Strengthen us to embody the Good News of your love.

Silence

Shine in our hearts, Lord Jesus,
and transform our lives.

Lord Jesus, free the suffering from their afflictions. Restore the broken to wholeness.  Unveil the faces of those who dwell in great darkness.

I ask your petitions, followed by Silence

Shine in our hearts, Lord Jesus,
and transform our lives.

May we be changed into the likeness of your Son, O God, from glory to glory.  Bring us at last into that place, with all your saints, where we might no longer see in a mirror dimly, but see you face to face.

Silence

Shine in our hearts, Lord Jesus,
and transform our lives.
