Prayers of the People: Proper 17A (For our King James Celebration)

Prayers of the People—Proper 17A

My sisters and brothers, be kindly affectioned one to another with love.  And let us come unto God saying, “We glory in thy holy name, And offer our prayer unto thee, O Lord.”

Lord Jesus, thou bid thy disciples take up their cross and follow thee: May thy holy Church savourest above all, those things that be of God, that we might overcome evil with good.
Silence
We glory in thy holy name,
And offer our prayer unto thee, O Lord.

Lord God of our fathers, thou knowest the sorrows of the afflicted: Deliver thou those who are being oppressed.  And grant thy peace to all the world.
Silence
We glory in thy holy name,
And offer our prayer unto thee, O Lord.

Good Lord, thou makest known thy wondrous works: Reveal thyself in the works of thy hands as even thou didst to Moses our forebear on thy holy mountain.
Silence
We glory in thy holy name,
And offer our prayer unto thee, O Lord.

O Lord, grant that the people of our land be given to hospitality.  May we abhor that which is evil and cleave to that which is good.  And in doing so, may we then live peaceably one with another.
Silence
We glory in thy holy name,
And offer our prayer unto thee, O Lord.

Strong Lord, give us hearts to weep with those who weep.  Reveal thy strength to the weak and lowly that they may rejoice in thy marvelous works.

Allow the congregation to add their petitions and thanksgivings, followed by Silence

We glory in thy holy name,
And offer our prayer unto thee, O Lord.

Almighty God, thou shalt reward each one according to their works: Give to the dead rest from their labors and life everlasting.
Silence
We glory in thy holy name,
And offer our prayer unto thee, O Lord.
